Integrations

Connect GitHub, add your OpenAI key, and give entities service secrets for the tools they use on your devices.

Integrations connect a workspace or an entity to outside services. Workspace integrations live in Settings; secrets for one entity live in that entity's Settings.

#GitHub

The Animawake GitHub App gives your workspace access to the repositories you choose. Entities use it to clone and pull code on your devices, and projects can be created from a repository.

#Connect GitHub

  1. Go to Settings and open the Integrations tab (/<workspace>/settings?tab=integrations).
  2. Choose Install Animawake GitHub App.
  3. On GitHub, pick the account or organization and the repositories to grant, and install.

Back in the portal, the integration shows Connected to your account and lists the accessible repositories. To change which repositories are included, update the app's installation on GitHub.

#Use repositories

  • Projects: create a project with Import from GitHub in the new project dialog on the Projects tab of Settings.
  • Clone or pull for an entity: pick the entity and choose Clone or Pull next to a repository. The work runs on a device where the entity is deployed, so that device must be online.

#Disconnect

Choose Disconnect on the GitHub integration. If GitHub suspends the installation, the portal shows Reconnect GitHub.

Signing in to Animawake with GitHub is separate from the GitHub App. Signing in does not grant repository access.

#OpenAI key

Animawake uses OpenAI embeddings for memory search. On the hosted service a platform key is used by default. To have your memories embedded on your own OpenAI account:

  1. Go to Settings and open the AI providers tab (/<workspace>/settings?tab=providers).
  2. Add your OpenAI API key. It must start with sk-.

The key is encrypted at rest and shown afterward only as its last six characters. Remove it from the same place. See Memory for what the key is used for.

REST API: GET, POST (with {"api_key": "sk-..."}), and DELETE on /api/families/<workspace>/integrations/openai/.

#Service secrets

Service secrets are credentials an entity uses when it runs on your devices, such as a token for an internal tool.

#Add a secret

  1. Open the entity's Settings and go to Services and secrets.
  2. Under Custom secrets, choose Add secret, enter a Name and a Value, and click Save secret.

Saved secrets appear under Saved secrets. To remove them, choose Revoke there; this revokes all of the entity's custom secrets at once.

#How secrets are protected

The value is encrypted in your browser, separately for each of your devices, with that device's public key. Animawake stores and relays only the encrypted copies and cannot read them; only the device can decrypt its copy. A delivery that a device has not picked up expires after 7 days.

Because the server cannot read service secrets, they are not available to agents connected over MCP. Give MCP agents credentials through their own client configuration instead.

#Google services

The same section can connect Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts with OAuth, where they are offered. Tokens are encrypted for your devices in the same way.
